The Ultrasound Unit which occupies 3 rooms of Tropical Department enjoys an excellent reputation due to its advanced technological methods and highly qualified medical staff.
Every day of the week the unit receives outpatients and inpatients from Tropical Department and other hospital departments who are treated completely free of charge.
The Unit has three new ultrasound devices at its disposal, among them one 3D ultrasound.

Ultrasound imaging is used extensively for evaluating the kidneys , liver , gallbladder , pancreas , spleen , and blood vessels of the abdomen. Because it provides real-time images, it can also be used to:

Help a physician determine the source of many abdominal pains, such as stones in the gall bladder or kidney, or an inflamed appendix.

Help identify the cause for enlargement of an abdominal organ.

Diagnostic tapping is applied guided by ultrasound in order to identify any ascitic fluid in question.
Therapeutic Procedures: Interventional Ultrasound is performed in Ultrasound Unit on Saturday and Wednesday.

Guided needle biopsies , in which needles are used to sample cells from organs for laboratory testing.

Other therapeutic procedures like aspiration, alcohol injection, radiofrequency, and pig-tail are performed.
