Dear Fellow Endoscopists,It is with great satisfaction that the ESGE regards the past activities of the spring season. Several successful workshops have taken place under ESGE auspices throughout Europe and the Mediterranean rim. Two recent events, the ESGE / BSG joint symposium and the ESGE Workshop in Syria are featured below.Application for 2007 ESGE Postgraduate Grants is now ongoing. We are happy to announce that the Institute of Hepatology at the University College Medical School in London, under the guidance of Dr. Stephen Pereira, has been added to the list of official ESGE endoscopy training centres.I would also like to draw your attention to the ESGE activities at the United European Gastroenterology Week (UEGW) in Berlin. ESGE / BSG joint symposium, Birmingham, March 21 2006

The annual Symposium of the British Society of Gastroenterology took place on March 21 at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham

At the annual Symposium of the British Society of Gastroenterology on March 21, a joint session co-hosted by the ESGE and the BSG took place at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham. Jean-Francois Rey, Horst Neuhaus, Lars Aabakken, and Thomas Rِsch were present on behalf of the ESGE with Brian Saunders of the British Society of Gastroenterology to discuss new imaging techniques.

ESGE Workshop, Syria, April 18 2006

In April the ESGE was very pleased to have the opportunity of supporting a workshop in Aleppo, Syria. Here we joined efforts with Cook and Pentax to support Professor Nabil Antaki and the local organizing committee, chaired by Nazir Ibrahim, in realizing a live workshop with participants from Syria and neighbouring countries.

 

ESGE Postgraduate Grants

ESGE Postgraduate GrantsWe would like to encourage all doctors eligible for an ESGE Postgraduate Grant to submit applications before July 1, 2006. The grant covers eight weeks of intensive endoscopic training at one the 15 certified ESGE endoscopy training units and includes travel costs, accommodations and a weekly allowance of 125 Euros.

ESGE Postgraduate Course, October 21 2006

The ESGE Postgraduate Course is one of the mainstays of the UEGW which takes place this year in Berlin, Germany October 21 - 25Registration is now possible for the ESGE Postgraduate Course, taking place at the UEGW in Berlin, Germany October 21 - 25, 2006. Participants of the Postgraduate Course will additionally be able to register for the Hands-On Training Session on Biologic Models which has recently been awarded CME credits.

The ESGE Postgraduate Course will stage live demonstrations from the Academic Medical Centre in Amsterdam and the Charité University Hospital in Berlin. Renowned experts will moderate the demonstrations on site at the ICC Berlin, which will alternate with review talks on core topics for the GI endoscopy practice of today and tomorrow.
